Gran Canaria

If I remember correctly this was the first time I went on holidays during the winter months. Before traveling to Gran Canaria I read on internet how restricted flying a drone is over there. Typically I wasn't sure if I need to take my drone with me and as always had it with me almost all the time while driving around in my hired Mazda mx5 convertible.

So the plan was simple. Driving around and enjoying the ride with occasional stops to do some flying. After my experiences with driving convertible car on the sunny island of Ibiza in 2013 when I had little heat stroke I decided to go and buy some hat first. When I finally had the hat I went to explore the island. I drove it around, inside out and I had absolute pleasure driving that little convertible. I have to say as much as I love flying drones I think on that trip I preferred driving a car more. I couldn't resist and whenever there was a chance I stopped to took a flight. Rules are clear on Gran Canaria. If you want to fly near the buildings you'll need a permission. Having this in mind I tried to stay away from towns and buildings. It wasn't always possible of course but I did my best.

Landscape of Gran Canaria is not very special but beautiful. North of the island looks somewhat like Madeira when south is more flat and it has even its own dunes. It is fascinating how a little island can be divided into two different environments with different landscapes and weather conditions. I stayed in Maspalomas on the south for more sun as my trip happened in February. I highly recommend going there and many of yous probably been there already but it was my first time.
